Engagement Shoot

Todd and I have a great photographer for our wedding, Almond Photography. Our outdoor engagement shoot was originally scheduled for August but that was cancelled due to the massive heat wave. We rescheduled for a Sunday in September. A week before, the forecast predicted sunny weather in the 70's but as the week progressed, the forecast gradually changed to thunderstorms. Thankfully, the rain held off and we were able to get some great pictures!

We met at the Capitol Columns at the National Arboretum in DC. There was a small group of people there having a picnic so we had to wait until they were done.

After the Capitol Columns, we drove down to the Herb Gardens. They have beautiful brilliant blue arches and arbors covered in greenery. A lot of the flowers were still in bloom. Although there were a lot of people there walking around, our photographer managed to leave them out of the shots.

When we exhausted all the prettiest spots in the Herb Garden, we headed for the Bonsai trees! I just love the architecture of the archways and roof lines.

Our last stop of the day was the koi pond. There was another small group of people who were already there feeding the fish. This was good because the fish were all clustered in front of us and we didn't have to do anything!

There were several benches next to the water that we used for our last pictures. By then we were all exhausted. Picture posing is hard!

I hope you all enjoyed our pictures! I can't wait to get some printed and hung up around the house!
