Soooo... I decided to make my own quilt rules. That involves no measuring. I picked up some cute baby fabric at Hobby Lobby (on sale of course!) and decided to make my soon-to-be nephew a "quilted" baby blanket. I didn't do any piecing, I just sewed some lines on the quilt to make it look like it was quilted. If you do this on your own, beware that your quilt will bunch up under the sewing machine a bit. Also, since I didn't measure, my quilt was not perfectly square... but who's looking, right? I highly doubt Baby Ty will call me up and complain that his blanket isn't perfect. I also made some super cute yo-yos and sewed them on. It turned out to be around 30x30 inches.
Well, here it is. Judge for yourself!

It's not as crooked as it looks, I promise! It just isn't laying flat on the fence. (Don't ask why I hung it on the fence either.)

Check out the cute sock monkeys!

Overall, not too shabby for my first "quilt". And since I made my own rules, it took me one afternoon to make! Can't beat that! Maybe one day (after I work on the virtue of patience), I will attempt a real quilt...
