Rolls (Low Carb)

I love bread. It is one of my favorite foods (... along with pasta, mashed potatoes and chips). Unfortunately, it's not really an "approved" item on the low carb diet. So I found a great recipe that improved the already famous Revolution Rolls. They have only 1.5 net carbs per every 2 rolls. They turned out flaky on the outside and soft on the inside... just perfect for our sandwich night!

Rolls (Low Carb)

Keywords: bake bread low-carb

Ingredients (6 rolls)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp splenda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3 ounces softened cream cheese
Preheat the oven to 300* and spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
In a medium bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
In another smaller bowl, beat the egg yolks, splenda, salt and cream cheese together.
Carefully fold the yolk mixture into the egg whites. Try not to deflate the egg whites; it will help to add the yolk mixture a little at a time.
Divide the batter into 6 mounds and flatten them slightly with a rubber spatula.
Bake for 30 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before removing.
Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
