Holly Bunch Treats

At my home church growing up, the pastor's wife would make this dessert and bring it to holiday get-togethers. Here is my take on her traditional treat! (Adapted from here.) If you want to make it more kid-friendly, you could substitute red M&Ms or Skittles for the red hot cinnamon candies.

Keywords: dessert marshmallow

Ingredients (approximately 50)
  • 1 12 oz box or 12 c cornflakes
  • 8 c mini marshmallows
  • 6 tbs butter
  • Green food coloring
  • Red hot cinnamon candies
  • Nonstick spray
  • Frosting (optional)
Pour the cereal into a large bowl.
Microwave the butter and marshmallows in a medium bowl. Every 30 seconds, stir the mixture until melted and smooth.
Stir in green food coloring; use as much or as little as you want.
Quickly and gently, pour the melted mixture over the cornflakes and toss until evenly coated.
Cover 2-3 baking sheets with wax paper and spray with nonstick spray.
Spray a medium scoop with nonstick spray.
Scoop cereal mixture onto the wax paper, making sure that your scoop stays greased and the cereal mixture is packed.
Place 3 cinnamon candies on each scoop.
Use a small amount of frosting to adhere the candies to the tops, if desired or needed.
