DIY Dollhouse Apron & Refinished $1 Hutch

As I continue on my mission to build, furnish and decorate my dollhouse on a tight budget, I bring to you a cheap-o apron and hutch for the low-low price of less than $3!!!

On one of my regular Michaels rounds, I snatched up a pack of apron stickers in the scrapbooking embellishment aisle. It is the perfect 1/12th size! And you can't beat a 40% off sale. :)

When I got home and took the apron out of the packaging, I was surprised to find out that the utensils are removable! They are a bit big for 1/12 scale but once I trim 'em down, they will be perfect.

The apron looks great on my refinished hutch, right? I used a small piece of bent gold wire as a hook.

I picked up the hutch on a previous Michaels trip in the wood aisle for only $1. The doors open but unfortunately, the drawer does not. But for a buck, you can't be too picky!

I painted it white and distressed it a bit with black paint. The door inserts are pieces of aluminum window screening.

Here it is in my kitchen again! Enjoy!

  1. I love those little Michaels hutches. I don't have one close to me so when I travel and do stop at a Michaels I always try to buy three or so if they have them. I love that little apron- what a great find!
