Rocking Chair Reveal

Todd and I found a cute wooden rocking chair when we were thrift shopping one evening. We knew it would be perfect for a friend's upcoming baby shower! We purchased it for the low, low price of $3 and Todd put a lot of elbow grease in by sanding, gluing and cleaning the whole thing up.

(The chair is already prepped for painting in the "before" picture above. Annnddd I apologize for the semi-dark "after" pictures.)

I painted the entire rocker with leftover cream paint from our $400 DIY Kitchen Reveal. I used paint I already had for the designs. I like to pick up sample containers of paint that were mixed as "mistakes" for $1 each at Lowes. Because of this, I had quite a collection of colors to choose from!

I opted to do an owl motif on one of the rungs of the chair back to match the bedding pattern the momma registered for.

Here's the bedding pattern... Isn't it cute?

I also pulled the floral sprig and colors from the bedding.

Todd really wanted to customize it by putting Baby Pax's name on the back... so I did. :)

I then sprayed the entire chair with a coat or two of polyurethane for durability.

I am pretty pleased at the result. I really love the front! If I could improve anything, it would be the lettering on the back. But you can't beat a custom baby shower gift for only three bucks! I really hope that our friends enjoy the rocker for many years to come!
