Pinteresting: Tiered Platters & Candle Holders

Wow! I can't believe it's been over a week since my last post. Life has gotten busy with Todd at his new job and me doing summer art camp. The only time we ever really see each other is on weekends. Crazy.

Last week at Pinteresting we made cake platters and candle holders that were inspired by a project featured on Dollar Store Crafts. You can see that project (on it's original blog) here. (If you have no idea what Pinteresting is, check out this post.)

We came ready to craft with a ton of thrifted items. Check out our goods!

We started by spray painting our pieces. I opted not to spray paint since my items were the glass candle sticks and the mason jars. (Disclaimer: Since we used spray paint, the platters are NOT food safe.)

We then glued our pieces together. I tried some E6000 glue but found that it didn't stick in the time period we had. (FYI, it said recommended drying time is 72 hours.) I used Gorilla Glue, my go-to super glue. It worked great!

Here is Amy's:

I poured some sand I found in my shed into the jars and nestled in some tea lights. Maybe one day I will get some pretty sparkly sand. Ideally, I wanted a trio of candle holders using candlestick holders of varying heights and different size mason jars. I found some pretty perfect candlestick holders at the thrift store too... but I was too cheap to buy them when I knew I had two perfectly good ones at home to use.

Here they are in my studio!!! :)

I just love this nook of my studio! Check out my Shutter Clutter Holder here and my Paper Flower & Freshwater Pearl Necklace here. I can't wait for the day my studio is organized enough to share the space with you all!

Stay tuned for the next Pinteresting project!
